Gateway Games 2024: Lagos SWAN consoles with Kano SWAN, Kano Govt on Death of Some Members of State's Contingent in Auto Crash

The Executive Committee of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Lagos chapter has expressed its condolences to the Kano State chapter of the association, the Kano State Government and the good people of Kano State on the sudden death of some members of Kano State's contingent to the just concluded 22nd National Sports Festival which was held in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

 

The Nigerian sporting family on Saturday received the shocking autocrash that involved some members of Kano State Delegation going home after the festival. It was reported that no fewer than 21 people lost their lives on an official duty for the state during the accident.

 

Sadly, some members of our prestigious association were involved in the accident.

 

"This is shocking news for us in Lagos and we are deeply sorry for the loss of these dear lives of our members and some people in the contingent," said Ambassador Olatutu Oladunni, the Chairman of Lagos SWAN in a statement signed by the secretary of the chapter, Omotunde Bello on Saturday.

 

"Lagos SWAN is condoling with our people in Kano SWAN, the families of the deceased sports journalists and the entire people of Kano State.

 

"We also want to express our condolences to the National Leadership of SWAN led by Mr. Isaiah Benjamin on this tragic loss. It is our prayers that the Good Lord will give the families, Kano SWAN and the Kano State Government the fortitude to hear these great loses, amen," Olatutu said.
