Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has spoken about the 1-4 loss to Malaga suffered by the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) All-Star in Friday’s contest at the Caranza Trofeo.
Sandro Ramirez scored twice while Zdravko Kuzmanovic and Youssef En-Nesyri also added goal scoring contributions as the Nigeria stars suffered their second successive defeat in as many days in Spain.
Rohr said the game against Malaga was ‘difficult’ and expressed hope that the NPFL All Stars would perform better in their next game against Atletico Madrid.
“It was a difficult game for this young team. They lost 4-1 but they missed some players who had to go. Enyimba’s players selected for the Trofeo Carranza tournament had to leave for Egypt ahead of the club’s Caf Champions League game against Zamalek.
“I know it was not easy against a very good Spanish Team.
“I hope the next game (against Atletico Madrid) will be better,” he said.
“It was good to show representation of Nigerian football and it was good to have these games in Spain.
“It is good as they will get international experience,” the German said.
Rohr’s first competitive game with Nigeria comes up in September when the Super Eagles face Tanzania in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying game.
The 63-year-old trainer is keen to get to work and has already begun preliminary discussions about his blue print with Super Eagles assistant coaches Salisu Yusuf and Imama Amapakabo who are both in Spain with the NPFL All Stars.
“I was present in Cadiz, Spain to watch this game as technical adviser of Nigeria.
“I will meet my coaching staff later on and we will speak about our work,” he said.
