Defending champions El-Kanemi Warriors will take on four-time winners Enyimba in one of the high-profile games in the round of 32 of this year’s President Federation Cup on Wednesday.
The all-NPFL affair is scheduled for the Bwari Mini Stadium in Abuja.
To advance into the next round of the oldest competition in Nigeria, Enyimba steamrolled El-Shama FC 5-0 in the round of 64 while El-Kanemi recorded a 3-2 win over Simon Ben FC.
Enyimba, a two-time CAF Champions League winner, are hanging their hopes of picking a continental ticket on the President Federation Cup after their poor run in the league.
The record NPFL champions are currently ninth in the league, with the possibility of finishing third in the league far from their reach.
Another all-NPFL affair will see Sunshine Stars and Plateau United face off in Anyigba, Kogi State.
Reigning Nigeria Premier League champions, Rangers International will also play Heartland in Awka. Fidelis Ilechukwu’s side will also look for another route into the continent next season as they currently sit five points below the continental spot in the league.
In other fixtures, Rivers United will face second-tier side Beyond Limits in Benin City just as Ikorodu City will play Crown FC in Ijebu Ode.
Relegation-threatened side, Lobi Stars will face Solution FC, Kwara United will battle Gombe United while 2023 winners Bendel Insurance will also navigate their way into the next round against Adamawa United.
