Fans have taken to the social media to praise the Super Eagles’ new coach, Eric Chelle, and the team following their impressive 2-0 victory over Rwanda in Friday’s 2026 World Cup qualifier in Kigali.
The win, secured through Victor Osimhen’s brace, marks Nigeria’s first-ever victory on Rwandan soil and has reignited hopes for qualification as the Eagles moved to fourth place in Group C with six points from five matches.
On X, Bernard Parah highlighted the team’s aggressive approach, writing, “Nigeria came out aggressive—pressing high, owning the ball, and setting the tempo. Lookman was electric, Osimhen hungry, and the Super Eagles looked like a side on a mission.
“The Super Eagles have done it; Nigeria’s first-ever win on Rwandan soil. It wasn’t flawless, but it was fearless. A night carved from grit, two moments of brilliance, and a wall of white shirts that refused to crack.”
Michael Bogbo praised the partnership between Osimhen and Ademola Lookman, whose cross created the opening goal.
“Solid performance by the Super Eagles! Victor Osimhen shines and forms a promising partnership with Lookman. Midfield duo Iwobi and Ndidi show flexibility, but lack marking force, exposing defence to pressure,” he wrote.
Several fans credited the new coach for the tactical improvement, with EyeDoc asking, “Can we give the new coach credit for the team’s performance? What a fantastic first half! Osimhen’s goals were simply sensational!”
