PDP Nat’l Deputies Move to End Party Crisis, Reveal Position on Chairmanship, Secretary Positions

By Daily Sports Nigeria on January 22, 2025

The national deputies of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have disclosed the party’s stance regarding its chairmanship and secretary positions.

Speaking on behalf of the deputies, Deputy National Youth Leader Timothy Osadolor on Wednesday said the party’s constitution and existing court rulings must be respected.

He said that Ambassador Umar Damagum remains the party’s Acting National Chairman until December 2025, as supported by subsisting court judgments.

Osadolor also frowned at the issue of party members and stakeholders who he said have been “de-marketing” the PDP, urging them to either toe the party line or leave.

He stressed that the party’s constitution and court rulings must be adhered to and that alternative views would not be tolerated.

The PDP has been embroiled in various crises, with the recent one being the legal tussle over the position of National Secretary.

It can be recalled that the Southeast zone of the party nominated former National Youth Leader Sunday Udeh-Okoye to replace Senator Samuel Anyanwu. The nomination followed Anyanwu’s emergence as the PDP’s governorship candidate for the Imo State election, where he failed in his bid to become governor.

Despite a court ruling favouring Udeh-Okoye, Anyanwu has continued to occupy the National Secretary position, citing his appeal to the Supreme Court and a pending application for a stay of execution of the appellate court’s judgment.
