Barcelona eye Manchester United’s Rashford

By Daily Sports Nigeria on January 11, 2025

England and Manchester United forward, Marcus Rashford has caught the eyes of Barcelona football club as the Catalan giants have reportedly entered the race to secure his services on a loan deal during the January transfer window.

According to football journalist Fabrizio Romano’s post on X on Friday, the 27-year-old forward has been surplus to requirement since Ruben Amorim took the helm of affairs at Manchester United even as he made it known in a recent interview of his intention to take on a new challenge this winter.

Recall that PUNCH Online reports that Marcus Rashford hinted at a possible departure from Manchester United, admitting that he is prepared for a new chapter in his career.

The Catalan giants are said to have initiated contact with Rashford’s representatives to signal their intent.

The English forward has also been linked with other top clubs, including AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, Arsenal, and West Ham, in recent weeks.

A significant hurdle for potential suitors, however, is Rashford’s staggering wages. The England international reportedly earns over €350,000 per week at Manchester United, presenting a considerable financial challenge for any club hoping to secure his services.

Despite the financial implications, Barcelona president Joan Laporta is reportedly determined to bolster Hansi Flick’s squad during the winter transfer window, viewing Rashford as a valuable addition to the team.
