Traders Cup: Upholstery Soccer Team Secured 2nd Win To Advance To Round Two

The Anambra state traders soccer event is living up to its expectations with the players and coaches looking forward for more actions in days ahead at the Onitsha zonal elimination.

Soccer is one of the five selected events featuring in the ongoing 2nd Anambra State Traders Sports Competition organised by the Anambra State Sports Development Commission (ASSDC) in collaboration with State Amalgamated Traders Association.

At the resumption of hostilities on Friday at the Chuba Ikpazu mini stadium Onitsha,  Upholstery market football secured their second win in the competition with a 1-0 victory over their Ifejika Market counterparts.

The very entertaining encounter  ended 0-0 in the first half but the the Upholstery boys made the difference through well taken penalty kick by Chidera Michael in the 48 minute.

The team had clinched first win in the opening game against Main Market at the Godwin Achebe Stadium, Fegge, Onitsha with 4-1 via penalty after goalless full time on on Oct. 24.

Ikenna Osueke, coach of Upholstery team said they were in the competition to pick the zone’s ticket for a good impact at  the state level.

Osueke said they were going home to work on the faulty mistakes.

Chidera Michael, the goal scirer joined by teammates were excited for the hard fought victory. He said they were looking forward for good outing in the competition.

Maduka Okoye, one of the Onitsha Zonal Coordinators, said the competition was so far moving smoothly.

Bida Market traders team will square up against Ogbo-Ogwu Market traders team on Saturday, even as action continues.
