Head coach of El-Kanemi Warriors, Aliyu Zubairu, is confident that the Maiduguri side can win all their home matches in the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League season.
Following a thrilling 4-3 win at Nasarawa United last Saturday, the Maiduguri side have now picked up four points in two matches this season, and both were on the road.
Ahead of what will be their first home match of the season against Plateau United on matchday four, the gaffer believes the Maiduguri side will be inspired by their away form as well.
“No hiding place for any opponent that comes to Maiduguri, that’s just it,” Zubairu said via Football Temple after Saturday’s victory in Lafia.
“Nobody can hide anywhere; we are not going to negotiate out three points at home.
“I don’t normally predict where the team will be at the end of the season; what I know is that we will continue to work hard. We are not under any pressure; what is important is for us to take every match seriously.”
Their next opponent, Plateau United, were also beaten 2-1 at home by Niger Tornadoes on Sunday.
El-Kanemi were supposed to play Kwara United in their first game at home on match-day two, but the fixture was postponed due to the devastating flood that affected most parts of Maiduguri, including some of their players and officials.
Despite playing just two games and on away grounds, Zubairu’s side have been able to grind out results.
They battled champions Enugu Rangers to a goalless draw at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium before beating Nasarawa United 4-3 in Lafia last Saturday.
They are currently fifth on the table with four points.
