Safety Shooters and Kano Pillars clash on Friday ended 21-21 as both teams battled to maintain their places among the leaders at the ongoing Ardova Handball Premier League in Benin City, the Edo State capital.
With Tojemarine Academy and Niger United winning their games, Shooters and Pillars knew that only a win could better their chances in the championship.
However, both teams were inseparable as the momentum shifted between both teams. The draw was a fair result as both teams hope to do better in their next games.
Tojemarine Academy beat D.Defenders 27-21 to maintain their lead on goal difference over Niger United, who defeated Rima Strikers 29-28 in a tight encounter.
Tojemarine are playing with confidence at the moment and the signing of John Shagari from Niger United seems to have added grit to a team that have faltered in games they were expected to win in previous seasons. But they looked galvanised this season and performances like this could earn them their first ever trophy.
For United, they had to dig deep to beat Rima Strikers by a goal margin to also continue their beautiful run with five wins from five games.
In other games, Lagos Seasiders lost to Benue Buffaloes 25-28, Confluence Stars walked over Correction Boys while Sunshine Kings defeated Adamawa Warriors 28-24.
In the female category, Plateau Peacocks beat Bendel Dynamos 32-21 and Imo Grasshoppers defeated COAS Babes 34-21.
