Dynamos beaten, Pillars bounce back at Ardova league

By Daily Sports Nigeria on May 17, 2024

Bendel Dynamos of Benin on Thursday lost to Imo Grasshoppers of Owerri 33-17 as their abysmal run in the Ardova Handball Premier League continues.

The hosts had no answer to the superior fire power of the Owerri team despite the efforts of Dynamos coach, Aaron Okogie, from the sidelines.

Grasshoppers dominated the game and could have scored more goals if they had taken most of the chances that came their way while Dynamos defensive efforts were not enough to prevent the Owerri team from the high margin victory.

In other games in the female category, Delta Queens defeated COAS Babes 26-21, while Rivers Queens beat Plateau Peacock 24-22 in a keenly-contested tie. Also, Safety Babes defeated Rima Queens 34-28 in another game.

In the male category, Kano Pillars returned to winning ways as the former champions beat Lagos Seasiders 27-20.

It was a tough game, but the Kano side, unlike in the last two games that they lost, made good use of their scoring chances.

An elated coach Solomon Yola commended his players for the good job while hoping for more victories in the competition.

Tojemarine Academy also defeated Correction Boys 32-21, Sunshine Kings lost to D.Defenders 23-24, Benue Buffaloes defeated Adamawa Warriors 33-27, while Niger United walked over Confluence Stars to earn maximum points and 10 goals.
