Atletico Madrid defender Cesar Azpilicueta faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after rupturing the meniscus in his left knee during the Copa del Rey win over Real Madrid, his club said Friday.
The 34-year-old former Marseille and Chelsea player came on as a substitute during extra time in Thursday’s last-16 tie which his team won 4-2.
However, he lasted just 10 minutes on the pitch before being replaced by Stefan Savic.
