•Fight fixed for March 8 in Saudi
Former UFC champion Francis Ngannou has boasted that Anthony Joshua cannot withstand his punching power as he hopes to secure a knockout victory against the British-Nigerian, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Joshua faces Ngannou in a heavyweight contest on March 8 in Saudi Arabia.
Ngannou, entering only his second professional boxing bout, is set to square off against the former two-time world champion on March 8 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Former UFC heavyweight king Ngannou stunned the boxing world last year when he sent the undefeated Tyson Fury to the canvas with a left hook.
The 35-year-old Briton, who recovered to win the 10-round bout by split decision, will fight Oleksandr Usyk on February 17 for the right to become the first undisputed heavyweight champion since 1999.
Fury is the WBC champion, with Ukraine’s Usyk, 36, holding the WBA, WBO and IBF belts.
However, ahead of his clash with Joshua, the former MMA champion believes he has enough power to put Joshua down.
“The day is set. It’s two months from now, and if any of them think they are going to have easy money, too bad for them,” he told MMA Fighting.
“If Joshua takes the punch that Fury took, I don’t guarantee that he’s getting back up. I have heard that he doesn’t have a chin. I’m going to find out.”
Reflecting on Joshua’s active year in 2023, where he saw action three times and notably stopped top contender Otto Wallin in five rounds on December 23, Ngannou acknowledged the British-Nigerian’s commendable performance.
However, he maintained his belief that Joshua remained the same fighter who lost thrice in the ring and hopes to make it four.
“I think he’s still the same fighter. Being the same fighter doesn’t mean you can’t lose. He lost to Andy Ruiz. He lost to Oleksandr Usyk and he can still lose.
“By the way, I’m really intending to hand him a loss on March 8. You can still be who you are, but still lose. Nobody is undefeated,” Ngannou said.
