Osimhen won’t join Chelsea – Lebouf

By Daily Sports Nigeria on December 19, 2023

Former Chelsea defender, Frank Leboeuf, says Napoli’s Victor Osimhen will be an ideal addition to the Blues squad but was quick to add that the Nigerian striker will reject a chance to join Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Osimhen,24, has been linked with a potential move to Stamford Bridge in January as the striker’s position continues to be a source of frustration at the club with the jury still out on Blues young strikers Nicolas Jackson and Armando Broja.

When asked who he would sign for Chelsea, Leboeuf told ESPN, “Osimhen would be a very good target but he won’t come to Chelsea because they are not competing at the top level in Europe at the moment.

“Before trying to sell players to buy a striker, you have to list available strikers and strikers who are willing to come. I’m not sure you’re going to find anybody.

“Chelsea are not playing in the Champions League and they are now 10th in the league despite their 2-0 win over Sheffield United. Which top strikers would like to

come to play for Chelsea right now? None.”

90min recently claimed that Chelsea do have plans in place to make a move for Osimhen next summer who according to several reports in Italy has reportedly reached an agreement to sign a one-year contract extension with Napoli.

The 24-year-old saw off competition from Egypt captain Mohamed Salah and Morocco defender Achraf Hakimi made history on his 95th Serie A appearance when Napoli defeated Cagliari 2-1 at the Diego Maradona stadium on Saturday as the first Partenopei player to score in each of his first four Serie A matches against two different teams (Cagliari and Sampdoria), in the three points per win era since 1994/95.

The former Lille and Wolfsburg striker has scored 57 Serie A goals and made 14 assists since he arrived in Italy in 2020.
