Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, made his debut for Udinese in Wednesday’s Coppa Italia round of 32 clash at home to Cagliari, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
It was Okoye’s first game in 14 months since he completed a four-year deal with the Italian club in the summer.
The 23-year-old spent one season at Watford and made only two appearances following his arrival from Eredivisie side, Sparta Rotterdam, last year.
Prior to Wednesday’s encounter, Okoye last featured in a club game for Watford on August 23, 2022 in the Hornets 2-0 loss to MK Dons in a second round Carabao Cup clash.
Okoye was at a time the Eagles No.1 goalkeeper, but his time with the national team has been marred by costly blunders and threats to his life.
His inactivity at English club Watford last season also did not help his chances with the Eagles.
Recently, the 23-year-old was handed a recall to the Eagles for the friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique last month but did not feature in any of the games.
He will hope to continue in goal for the Zebrette when they face AC Milan in a Serie A game at the Sansiro on Saturday, as he tries to fight for a place in the Nigeria squad for next January’s AFCON.
