On Tuesday, 24 October 2023, professionals across different bodies came to pay their respect to honour one of the business icons in Nigeria, Chief Kessington Adebukunola Adebutu CON, KJW, FISM, who is celebrating his birthday.
Chief Adebutu, the Odole-Oodua, Balogun of Remoland, who is popularly called Baba Ijebu, clocked 88 years on Tuesday.
Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Lagos chapter was among various professional bodies that came to the Ikoyi palatial mansion of the business mongul. Baba, as the sportswriters in Lagos usually called Chief Adebutu, is the Grand Patron of the Lagos SWAN.
Chairman of the association, Olatutu Oladunni, led a couple of the members and some veterans to the private residence of the founder of Premier Lotto where they were well received amid pomp to celebrate the man who Nigerians regarded as an industrialist, an astute businessman and a philanthropist to the core.
To Lagos SWAN, Chief Adebutu's continue support to the development of sports in Nigeria is what other very important personalities in the country should emulate.
Oladunni remarked that sports sector has enjoyed tremendous support from the business mogul over the years.
"Depending on who you are, the Mother Nature is permanently there for the journey. It is man that has appointment with the destiny. Sir Kessington Adebutu has been a father to many, he has always offered his unrelenting support anytime I call on him. Heartly cheers to a dearest father and icon," Lagos SWAN chairman said.
A big beautiful and well-designed frame with the picture of Sir Adebutu in it was presented to the Grand Patron at the occasion.
Meanwhile, Erelu Kuti IV, Erelu Abiola Dosunmu commended Lagos SWAN for the beautiful recognition and honour they have bestowed upon Sir Kesington and she expressed her joy for the role Oladunni has been playing alongside her executive committee towards sports upliftment in Lagos.
Erelu Kuti IV, who is also Yeye Oodua of the Source, said she will be looking forward to working with Lagos SWAN.
The Chairman of Kotco Group of Companies, Aare Kola Oyefeso said Lagos SWAN has been more professional with good corporate outlook in the last one year, especially since Oladunni took over the mantle of leadership of the association.
"Olatutu is more or less my daughter, and thank goodness, she has amazing exco who they all work together as a team. For me, SWAN Lagos chapter has been revived and it has come to stay. We appreciate the wonderful presentation they did, and Sir Kessington values it dearly too," Chief Osifeson remarked.
