Rangers International FC of Enugu management says the team “are back” as as a major force in the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) as they play away to Remo Stars of Ikenne on Sunday.
“Rangers are back. For many years they were not there but now they’re back," the team management confirmed.
Ahead of the away crash against Remo Stars of Ikenne on Sunday at 4 pm, the People's Elephant had last week Sunday in the 2023/2024 league opener at its home ground, Awka Township Stadium, Anambra state thrashed Doma United 2-1 to showcase the determination for better performance this season.
Rangers will visit the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne on Sunday evening hoping to consolidate on their opening day win, but against a Remo Stars team that will come out to fight for maximum points.
However, it will be a tough game for both teams as soccer pundits have predicted a 2-1 victory in favour of the home team, but this will not dampen Rangers FC determination and spirit for the three points and consolidation.
The Enugu-based side with a new Technical Adviser in the mould of experienced former MFM FC and Heartland FC handler, Fidelis Ilechukwu as well as the club new GM/CEO, Barr. Amobi Ezeaku and the youthful Enugu State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Lloyd Ekweremadu are not leaving anything to chances putting heads together for the season.
The Flying Antelopes gaffer has assured he is poised to work on improving the team's performance ahead of every game and ensure the team's back to reckoning as was in the 70s and 80s, even Remo Stars or any other team will not stop the ambition.
"Am delighted to start my campaign with a win although it wasn't an easy game as the tempo of the game changed when Doma United got a goal back in the season opener," Ilechukwu recalled.
Rangers FC Media Officer, Norbert Okolie told our Correspondent that the team's coach and players are promising the teeming fans a better outing with good result in Ikenne, Ogun state, home of the late political juggernaut, Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
"During the pre-match conference, the new Technical Adviser, Fidelis Ilechukwu gave assurance he is going to Ikenne with the sole determination of coming back to Enugu with good result.
"We are going to Ikenne to paint the town red and come back home with smiles," Okolie said.
Meanwhile, Propel Sports Africa (PSA) has promised that it will enhance the quality of its live broadcast streaming of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) in the coming weeks after successfully overseeing five live games on the opening day of the ongoing season.
President of Propel Sports, Ed Simmons, explained that the company took “a mammoth” challenge in investing in the Nigerian top-flight and will work to ensure that all of the teething issues experienced on the opening day of the live broadcast streaming will be resolved in the coming Match days.
