The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has said it has paid match bonuses and allowances of the Super Falcons’ players since last week Friday.
The NFF President Ibrahim Gusau stated this while appearing before the House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee on Dispute between Super Falcons and the Federation yesterday in Abuja.
The House ad-hoc Committee earlier summoned the NFF boss on Wednesday for refusing to honour its invitation.
He explained that no funding was released for participation of the team in the 2019 World Cup but in the 2023 FiFA women’s world cup hosted by Australia and New Zealand $960,000 was given to all 32 countries that qualified.
Gusau, however said the money cannot be deployed for the payment of the outstanding allowances of the Super Falcons in 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The NFF President disclosed that: “The Confederation of African Football (CAF) provides $250,000 per annum as a subvention fund”.
The Committee’s Chairman, Hon. Blessing Onuh, who was not satisfied with Gusau’s responses ruled that the documents of how the Super Falcons were funded in the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, the breakdown of match bonuses payments and its slips for the 23 players and the coaching crew be provided to the panel before the end of this month.
