Crystal Palace eager to sign Iheanacho before Aug 30

By Daily Sports Nigeria on August 24, 2023

Crystal Palace is said to be keen to explore the possibility of signing Leicester City forward, Kelechi Iheanacho before the end of the summer transfer window.

The 26-year-old is out of contract next June and is expected to be on the move before the market closes, with the Nigerian thought to be reluctant to play in the Championship.

Iheanacho has scored once and provided one assist in four outings for Leicester this season, although he is yet to find the back of the net in the Championship.

According to the Evening Standard, Palace has identified the forward as the ideal replacement for Jean-Philippe Mateta, who is currently being linked with an exit.

The report claimed that Eagles boss Roy Hodgson is a huge admirer of Iheanacho, making him one of his leading targets in the latter stages of the transfer window.

Mateta is said to be wanted by both Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig, and he is expected to leave over the next week.

Iheanacho has a wealth of top-flight experience, playing 196 times in the Premier League for Leicester and Manchester City, scoring 42 goals and registering 28 assists in the process.
