The reigning Nigeria Premier Football League NPFL, Champions, Enyimba FC is looking to cut down its asking price for striker Chukwuemeka Obioma, npflupdates.com understands.
Chukwuemeka Obioma finished last season as the highest goalscorer in the Nigeria Premier Football League with sixteen goals. And was rewarded by the League Organisers with a sum of Five Hundred Thousand Naira.
Also, he was presented with a golden shoe award, a structure normally given to the league’s top scorer.
And last season, Obioma was the first and only player to score a Hat-trick in the Nigeria Premier Football League. He achieved the feat when his side played host to Nassarawa United in Aba.
Following the achievements of the 24-year-old in the just concluded season, top European and African clubs are competing for his signature.
So far, former Hungarian Champions FC Ferencvarosi has expressed interest the striker. Also, two North Africans in Al Ahly and Zamalek are also linked to the marksman.
However, Enyimba’s asking price of Five Hundred Thousand Euros(€500,000) is so far scaring the potential suitors away.
And npflupdates.com have gathered, the player’s contract with Enyimba is about to end. And that talks about extending his contract with the Aba-based club has hit the rocks. If he runs out his contract, then the club will be at a loss for losing him on a free.
A source close to the former Abia Warriors marksman disclosed that Enyimba is considering taking their asking price for the player down.
“Emeka has refused to sign a contract extension at Enyimba. And his contract is remaining just a few months to expire; hence the need for the club to think twice,” he said choosing to remain unanimous.
“I’m pretty sure will sell him to Zamalek, but that will be at a reduced price. And the reason is simple; they need the money to help fund some other engagements, especially now they’re in the market for new players.”
Chukwuemeka Obioma will be rewarded in due time with a Eunisell sponsored Golden Boot. And also a cash of Three Million, Two Hundred Thousand Naira, for finishing as NPFL’s top goal scorer.
