Flying Eagles will be clinical against Italy – Bosso

By Daily Sports Nigeria on May 23, 2023

Flying Eagles coach, Ladan Bosso, has promised that his team will be more clinical when they take on Italy in their second Group D game on Wednesday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The two-time U-20 World Cup finalists had to come from a goal down to beat debutants Dominican Republic 2-1 on Sunday, squandering several chances.

An own goal from Guillermo De Peno and second-half Samson Lawal strike completed the Flying Eagles comeback after Edison Azcona scored from the spot to hand the Quisqueyano the lead after 23 minutes.

“We missed so many chances and we need to work on those chances before the next match (against Italy),” Bosso said.

“Against Dominican Republic, we saw what they could do and we were able to subdue them.

“One of the good things about the Flying Eagles team is that their organisation is perfect from the defence to the midfield and then the attack.”

A win against Italy on Wednesday will secure their spot in the next round of the tournament.

The young Azzuris also began their campaign on a winning note as they defeated Brazil 3-2.

Italy raced to a 3-0 lead, opening in the 11th minute when midfielder Matteo Pratti shot from close range. Italy doubled its lead after Brazil goalkeeper Mycael failed to stop a cross and left the ball for a clear header by midfielder Cesare Casadei in the 27th minute. Casadei added a third in the 35th minute from the spot.

Brazil regrouped and scored two goals through striker Marcos Leonardo, the first in the 72nd minute and the second — a header three minutes from time, but it was too little too late.
