Let me begin this week on brighter note as we on Daily Sports Nigeria congratulate the six teams that finally emerged from the two groups which was abridged NPFL.
The six teams will square up against each other for an overall champion to emerge for the 2023 league season.
They, Enyimba International FC, Bendel Insurance FC, Rivers United FC, Remo Stars FC, Lobi Stars and Sunshine Stars FC are no mean ones. They have come a long way with so much transformations and reformations which left them at this level.
Truth is that on paper, Bendel Insurance is the most formidable amongst the lot, it did not lose any game in its group and would carry such intimidation to this contest in neutral new look stadium ground in Onikan Lagos.
One anticipates a good game to behold. These teams may have prepared to the teeth to grab the huge multi-million Naira prize.
The heat will be on come next month when the much awaited Super Six final takes firm hold. The fireworks are anticipated to be as intensive as the competition of winner takes all ranges on. Note that the emergence of these six teams was not on bed of roses.
From our usual credible source, the team that wins the upcoming Super Six will go home with huge sum of N100, 000, 000. There will not be any prize for second place and third respectively. The Africa club Championship representatives teams will also be known.
As we wait earnestly for that days long tournament in Lagos, we wish all the teams, officials, organizers, sponsors etc fantastic championship that would enthrone full strength NPFL season going forward.
And now this, you don’t need to look too far to know or see that the pendulum of operation destabilization of Labour Party has reached a feverish stage and the hen is heading home to roost. The ruling APC is so jittery on the damage the oneness and wholeness of a Labour Party portends presently for its survival at retaining the seat of President INEC chairman, Yakubu Mahmood awarded to Ahmed Tinubu.
Substantial facts at the disposal of the Labour Party are not only causing panicky situation in the APC but give the propaganda ridden political party sleepless nights that it has devised several other tactics of creating crisis in the Labour Party at all fronts.
Nigeria today is sharply divided along tribal lines, injustice and sundry. Since after the lame duck Presidential election of February 25 and since the election brought along with it surprises from Peter Obi’s Labour Party that is widely adjudged as the winner of the election, Events shortly after the election have shown the attitude of APC to Labour Party, harassing and intimidating the supporters from the onset. Allegations of all kinds were put forward and followed with arrests from Police and after finding no alleged criminal activities by the obedient, the party and the security agents under its watch stopped and now switched to exploring the services of moles in the Labour Party to destabilize the it.
That exercise has continued unabated but Labour Party and her numerous supporters worldwide have been resolute in their unweaving belief in democratic norms, tenets and the sanctity of the law and the judiciary believing vehemently that justice would triumph over the current falsehood. The present anti democracy moves by APC has intensified run up to the inauguration May 29. Nigerians and even the world over knew APC as double speak lot. The ruling party cries wolf where there is none. The APC carved that notorious status for itself but its antecedents following that have clearly shown.
It has been an interesting desperation from APC exposing itself the more as its panic measures against Labour Party heightens. As the line thins on, the party which is widely known for using propaganda in everything it does is struggling in all fronts. All is not well within its ranks and file. The citizenry will see the worst as days draw closer. However, consolation of objective Nigerians remain that cry may endure in the night but joy would definitely come in the morning as this unnecessary scenario will soon fizzle away.
Just on Friday, the leprous hand of APC was seen on the dubious High Court judgment from Kano State which disqualified all Labour Party candidates in the highly disputed 2023 general elections in the country while that dust is yet to settle, one Okafor on Saturday, May 20, has been spurt up by the ruling APC chieftains and their agents to lay claim as the national chairman of Labour Party.
I listened to the Okafor guy and after thinking aloud I came to terms with keen observers on the political terrain of Nigeria that APC’s desperate fight against Labour Party is to frighten the party to chicken out from pursuing a genuine case of unambiguously clear electoral fraud against APC and its INEC partner in crime before the Presidential Election Tribunal Court currently ongoing in Abuja.
Worried to have lost ground from its sponsorship of Lamidi Apapa, APC well known for its restlessness as a distabilsation agent also woefully failed in its Kano High Court angle. Now it is using one Okafor to fight Labour Party again. It would be recalled that 2023 Presidential election tribunal Court is the first time INEC is separately hiring lawyers to defend it in the tribunal. It shows the collective conspiracy between APC and Yakubu Mahmood’s INEC against Labour party‘s electoral victory during February 25 Presidential election. Such development in Presidential election Court remains worrisome and calls for the supposedly impartiality required from an umpire.
It further clearly showed that Yakubu Mahmood and his co-bed fellows in INEC knew what it did or reached with APC in the manipulation of February 25, Presidential election. The ever ready lying lips of APC will never get tired and the precarious situation in Nigeria today leaves soured taste in the mouth and people clapping for outgoing Mahammadu Buhari and his APC are the usual men and women without integrity.
Let me vividly note here that these same people are lined up for Tinubu who will on May 29 ‘temporarily’ take over Presidential power as there was no provision in the constitution or electoral act that said all Court cases in relation to Presidential election dispute must be concluded before new oath of office could be taken.
It is against the above inflammable background that May 29, is believed to stand firm as the proceedings in the Courts continue. Those who still believe in the judiciary are optimistic of a positive turn around that would return power to the rightful owner who majority of people of voting age in Nigeria overwhelmingly gave their mandate.
I digress.
Dear readers, we were serially itemizing the under currents and devilish onslaught of APC against Labour Party which it has unleashed to destabilize, create and cause artificial faction in the eyes of the unsuspecting general public to look as if all is not well with Labour Party.
This columnist recalled that the Court the other day shot out political mole in Labour Party, Lamidi Apapa and restated Abure and others as the authentic National Chairman of the party. The disgraced Apapa has been quietly coming to the Court and sitting at the back as an audience, only for that Okafor to appear in his stead to play the role.
Yet, APC and its destabilization machinery are not done. Labour Party as its nemesis remains a dangerous pin on its neck. The massive moment political party has not known peace from APC that has every reason to be afraid of its shadow because of its fraudulent acts during the election in February 25.
Nigerians are in limbo today in all facets and nothing absolutely nothing points to light at the end of the tunnel. Therefore young Nigerians especially are still asking what would pointedly lead to the same APC winning the election, with the rate at which they so messed up the entire country in every segment to the extent Nigerians are asking Buhari and APC “when will this pains end”.
I digress. Haven failed in its nefarious activities against Labour Party the Friday induced judgment from Kano State also failed flat like the previous ones. It is great and instructive to note that Labour Party has spoken the laughable issue and its intention towards it. In days to come Nigerians will be abreast with the update.
Nigerians especially the numerous youths that came out in enmasse for the first time to cast their votes for Labour Party’s Peter Obi are the most hit in the broad day light robbery. They are claiming they unanimously gave their mandate to Labour Party. Majority of Nigerian youths without any prejudice are angry and have not pretended showing it off in any fora and the international community that are more civilized but have oftentimes also displayed great hypocrisy on critical issues in Nigeria’s wellbeing, when it matters most like this present period.
All objective and critical commentators and observers are aware that the current onslaught against Labour Party and Nigerians at large by APC using moles to find silly and none existing fault would remain ridiculous and sad commentary on the side of APC, its agents like INEC and others at the end of the day.
The above was expressed by an elder statesman of note and means who vehemently insisted that he has full confidence in the Nigerian judiciary whom he said has shown depth, hold and grit when the chips were down, believing that this time won’t be an exception as it will go ahead to not only strengthen our democracy but also discourage extensively the arrogance by politicians, money induced and rigging of elections as there won’t be room for this present popular saying, “go to Court” syndrome. As we positively look on and be hanging hope on the judiciary, we won’t low on our consistent call that Nigerians’ mandate must be respected in all spheres. We urge for vigilance as we keep shooting hard. Meanwhile we wait!!
