Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze has expressed his delight after scoring a brace against LaLiga champions Real Madrid in the league match played on Saturday at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
The 23-year-old is having an excellent season, having scored 11 goals and provided 11 assists across all competitions, and powering the side’s charge for a UCL spot.
Chukwueze has reignited his form under current manager Quique Setien and equally scored against Los Merengues in the Copa del Rey Round of 16 in January.
Speaking in his post-match with LaLiga TV, the Abia State-born winger is excited to have scored twice at the Bernabeu this season.
“I practised a lot for that last goal, it’s incredible. In the future, I will play even better,” Chukwueze told LaLiga TV.
“Now, it’s about improving. It’s a dream come true, I’m really happy.”
Following his brilliant run in the season, Chukueze made the finalist for the LaLiga March Player of the Month award and led his side to a 2-0 victory over Real Sociedad last weekend.
Villarreal also took to its official Twitter account to praise the Super Eagles striker for his outstanding performance. “We won’t ever forget his performance today.”
Quique Setien’s side are unbeaten in six La Liga games and are fifth on the table with 47 points, four points short of Real Sociedad who are fourth on the log.
The Nigeria international has now scored 13 goals, and 11 assists in 40 appearances for the Yellow Submarine this season to become the second-highest goal scorer and the most assists in Setién’s squad.
