Chukwueze eyes 20th LaLiga goal

Samuel Chukwueze will set his sight on scoring his 20th LaLiga goal for Villarreal who welcomes fourth placed Real Sociedad at the Estadio de la Ceramica stadium on  on Sunday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Since he broke into the first team of the Yellow Submarines the Nigeria international has scored 19 LaLiga goals with 18 assists in 143 games.Villarreal currently sit five points clear of seventh-placed Athletic Bilbao in the La Liga table, while Real Sociedad are three points ahead of fifth-placed Real Betis in the battle to secure a Champions League finish.

Chukwueze who starred for Nigeria in their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier will also be aiming to score in consecutive league games for the second time this season in the encounter.

The 23-year-old who has scored 11 league goals and made 11 assists in 38 games across all competitions had on March 18 and 27th scored against Real Mallorca and Getafe.

Quique Setien’s side have not lost in the league since the middle of February, while they have been in strong form at home this season, picking up 23 points from 12 matches.

Real Sociedad, though, have the fourth-best away record in the division this term, securing 26 points from 13 matches, recording eight wins in the process.

Villarreal have only actually won one of their last six La Liga games against Real Sociedad, meanwhile, and they suffered a 1-0 loss in the reverse match earlier this season.
