Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has hailed Crystal Palace stars of Nigerian descent Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze, for their remarkable performances against the Premier League champions on Saturday.
The 52-year-old Spanish tactician was full of praises for the Palace duo, who tormented City’s defence but were unlucky not to score in the tense encounter.
Erling Haaland scored the only goal from the penalty spot in the 78th minute to hand City the 1-0 win after Olise’s late challenge on Ilkay Gundogan.
Afterwards, Eze missed a goal-bound opportunity to salvage a point for the Eagles.
Guardiola speaking to Sky Sports after the match Pep said:
“My experience is that every time we come here it has been very tough. Always I have the feeling when we come here, we play really good thinking about how good they are. We always struggle because we want to score more goals.
“Everything pleased me, we missed the counterattack a bit. It is not easy, they defend six players in the box and Erling Haaland had two men marking him, Gundo [Ilkay Gundogan] had a man, it was a question of patience.”
