Fury tougher than Joshua — Usyk

By Daily Sports Nigeria on March 9, 2023

Oleksandr Usyk believes Tyson Fury will prove a more difficult opponent than British-Nigerian Anthony Joshua.

Usyk won back-to-back decisions over Joshua to become the unified heavyweight champion of the world, and has been heavily linked to an undisputed clash with Fury in recent months.

When asked by Gary Neville whether he thought Fury would be a tougher fight than Joshua, Usyk admitted he thinks ‘The Gypsy King’ will prove to be an even tougher test.

“Yes, of course. He has a different style. Fury is more audacious,” he said.

Fury vs Usyk is considered one of the best fights to be made in the sport, and the winner would be the first undisputed heavyweight champion of the world since Lennox Lewis.

However, concerns are growing amongst fans that the historic clash may not happen as the touted date of April 29th creeps ever closer.

Promoter Frank Warren’s tone when speaking on the fight appears to have changed, and stated in a recent interview that he can’t force the men to step into the ring with one another.

Wembley Stadium is believed to be the venue — should the fight hold — where Fury broke the all-time British boxing attendance record last May for his knockout victory over Dillian Whyte.

It is believed the WBC champion will fight at the famous venue on April 29 regardless of whether Usyk is the man in the opposite corner or not.
