Aluko on Osimhen: Everything he touches goes in

By Daily Sports Nigeria on February 23, 2023

Former Chelsea women’s striker Eniola Aluko says Victor Osimhen is in sensational goalscoring form at the moment.

The Nigeria international had netted in five consecutive matches in the Italian topflight before Napoli’s Tuesday’s trip to Germany for their Champions League clash against Europa League holders Eintracht Frankfurt, where the Napoli No.9 continued his rich vein of form by opening the scoring against the German Bundesliga side.

Five minutes to the end of the first half, Osimhen turned in a brilliant pass from Hirving Lozano to break the deadlock, taking his tally for the season to 20 goals in 24 matches across all competitions.

The 24-year-old won a penalty in the 34th minute, after he was fouled inside the box by Aurelio Buta, but Khvicha Kvaratskhelia failed to convert from the spot.

Reacting to Napoli’s opener, Aluko said on BT Sport, “You see straightaway as soon as they win the ball back, they are direct. You see Osimhen really attacks the box, gets into the box ahead of the defenders.

“Hirving Lozano great ball, inch perfect ball and a good striker’s finish. Osimhen is on fire.

“Everything he touches is going in, 20th goal of the season. Brilliant goalscoring record so far this season.”

Osimhen’s other goal in this season’s Champions League came against Ajax Amsterdam on matchday four in the group stage.
