NPFL: Benin Arsenal fire blank against Scorpions

By Daily Sports Nigeria on February 5, 2023

The high-flying Bendel Insurance were slowed down by Gombe United at home on match-day six of the current season after being held to a goalless draw at the Samuel Ogbemudiau Stadium on Saturday.

It’s the first time this season that the hosts have failed to score in the NPFL.

Gombe United proved to be good on the road, restricting the deadly attack of Insurance to pick up their third point on the road this season.

After a minute silence was observed in honor of late referee Kingsley Nnaemeka who passed on during the week, hostilities began in earnest with the host seeking to make it six wins on the bounce.

But the visitors had answers to all their questions even as the likes of current league joint-top scorer Osarenkhoe Imade, Ismael Sarki, Divine Nwachukwu, Ebuka Akobundu and Austin Ogunye all missed chances.

The result leaves Bendel Insurance top of the table with 16 points with the chances of other teams like Remo closing the gap on them on Sunday (today).

Gombe United now have 7 points and move a place up pending the outcome of other matchday six games.
