Enyimba coach George Finidi is talking tough ahead of their away battle against Ikenne-based Remo Stars in their week five fixture of the 2023 Nigeria Premier Football League season.
The two-time African champions comfortably dispatched Kwara United in a 3-0 victory in Aba last weekend courtesy of a brilliant brace by Chukwuemeka Obioma and Ademola Adebambo, who scored the third on his debut to seal a win.
The 51-year-old Finidi, who also doubles as Super Eagles assistant manager, has assured Aba fans that the Elephants would leave no stone unturned and would continue with the sterling performance.
Looking at the stats, it looks like a fair call for the Aba team, who have won four of their last six NPFL meetings with Remo Stars.
“We are all happy for the victory. It was an outstanding game for the players. I think they did so well,” Finidi said after Enyimba’s victory on Sunday.
“We, as the coaching staff, know this team is good, it’s just for them to come to the party.
“We will not relent. We know we have a task ahead of us — against Remo. We will all see how we can go there and get a good result.”
Enyimba will hope to record a third win against a Remo side who suffered a 3-0 defeat to rampant Bendel Insurance over the weekend in Group A, their first loss in the 2023 campaign.
Enyimba with two wins, one draw and one defeat are third in Group A standings, two points behind Remo, who have had an impressive run, winning three of their four matches. Insurance top Group A with 12 points, winning all four matches.
Speaking after his side’s defeat to Bendel Insurance in Benin City, Remo coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, is confident the Sky Blue Stars will recover from their shambolic loss and return to winning ways.
“Today things didn’t go the way I wanted them to go, tomorrow, things will be the way I want them,” Ogunmodede said.
