Jose Peseiro has revealed how Victor Osimhen influences the dressing room when the striker is on international duty for the Super Eagles.
The Napoli marksman has been able to display his prowess in front of goal since the Portuguese football tactician took over the managerial reigns from Augustine Eguavoen, scoring five goals in two AFCON qualifying matches – more than any other African player.
Peseiro admitted that Osimhen always makes his international teammates play at a very high level.
“He is a leader and thanks to his performances he has been able to take the dressing room. Because he is a top player, but above all a great motivator,” Peseiro said to Il Mattino, via paroladeltifoso.it.
“He always asks everyone to give their all. He talks to his teammates and makes them grow.”
Osimhen is unarguably the most saleable Nigerian player in the European Leagues at the moment and is valued in the region of 100 million euros by Napoli.
The 24-year-old remains humble despite his achievements and all the hype surrounding him.
Explaining why Osimhen is a star in Nigeria, Peseiro said: “In Nigeria he is a star because he is the player with the greatest value, but that doesn’t make him go crazy.
“He is a leader on and off the field. He has grown a lot and continues to grow more every game.”
Osimhen missed Nigeria’s last two games against Algeria and Portugal but is expected to be named in the Super Eagles squad for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches with Guinea Bissau in March, barring an injury.
