GUC Relays gets corporate boost

By Daily Sports Nigeria on November 4, 2022

The 2022 edition of the Government College Ughelli Intercollegiate Athletics competition, GCU Relays, has been given a big boost by RIKON International hotel.

The Ughelli-based hotel has now emerged as the Official Hospitality Partner of the GCU Relays.

Corporate support for the GCU relays has often come from companies and organisations driven by Old Boys of Government College Ughelli, who strongly believe in the platform of the Games to give back to their most revered and prestigious alma mater.

“We are excited and honoured to be proud partners of the annual GCU relays,” an official of Rikon International hotels said.

The pre-event cocktail, dinner and closing event (Burn-fire), are being sponsored by the architectural firm of Majoroh and Associates.

The roll call of corporate support for the GCU Relays begins with NNPC/Shell Petroleum Development Company, who built and donated the Modern Tartan Tracks, stretching to Pillar Oil, GAMSU Foundation, Old Boys, Young Mariners, Senior Mariners and Ancient Mariners alike.

This year’s edition which will hold on Saturday, November 19, will attract budding talents from over 60 secondary schools and top dignitaries from across Delta State including the Executive Governor Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa.

The media event heralding the GCU Relays holds next week at the GCUOBA Secretariat, Yaba Lagos.

Fundamental to the GCU Relays is the revival and enhancement of healthy Sports rivalry among secondary schools in Nigeria, and it’s the brain child of the National Executive Committee of Government College Ughelli Old Boys Association (GCUOBA).
