Honourable Stanley Nwabuisi: An unrelenting Passion For Ikwuano People, Inspiring Servant Leader.

By Victor Enyinnaya on October 24, 2022

He is young and personable, disarmingly unassuming, urban in every sense and meaning of the words. Stanley Nwabuisi, a sitting lawmaker in Abia State House of Assembly is a calm, intelligent and astute young generation politician who has the trappings of a servant leader.

DAILY SPORT’s EDITOR – IN –CHIEF, VICTOR  ENYINNAYA was on hand to bring you, dear numerous readers, this rare close up exclusive and frank discussion with the lawmaker extra- ordinary who God has used to blessed Ikwuano Local Government Council for the very first time ever since the return to democracy in 1999. The Honourable member was in Lagos at the weekend for Grand Ikwuano Day 2022 in Lagos where he was honoured with the well deserved traditional title of Okeosisi One of Ikwuano. He is a very arousing leader in others, Honourable Stanley Nwabuisi, member Abia State House of Assembly.

Without prejudice he has brought quality leadership to the table of the local government. In short, this unputdownable interview revealed so many answers to more unanswered past questions which have been agitating the minds of our people regarding the happenings in the local government and her representatives in both the state and federal levels.

This interview was vivid as the prudent and brilliant lawmaker has performed well because the presence of his good works are shown in all the four traditional clans that Ikwuano is firmly standing on.

As earlier said, Honourable Stanley Nwabuisi does not pretend to have done what he has not, therefore as a young person the bug that has eaten deep into Nigerian politicians hasn’t caught up with him. He says it as it is and little wonder therefore, he has been able to manage very judiciously the little resources at his disposal thus far. We all are aware that our State, Abia is a peculiar one as we have not been so lucky to elect a deep rooted man who would readily change the face of the State since return to democratic rule in Nigeria.

As Abia State is currently crying for messiah so were Ikwuano people during the years back until now that our David came in person of Honourable Stanley Nwabuisi, the God fearing and unrelenting leader whose depth passion for the overall development of his people in all ramifications has been unquenchable.

To put it mildly, his quest to develop our youths through sports is there already; his dream to make our young ones more productive via skills of any kind and formal education can never be quantified.

It is worth saying that good market sells itself. The choice of good representation has eluded the people of Ikwuano since the democratic rule returned. As an inspiring servant leader, there is never dull moment around him. A workaholic par excellence, his love for his people comes as his first priority. He has sponsored and supported legislations’ in House even as a first time lawmaker he has shown great depth and hold.

Have a swell time as you enjoy the conversation.

WHAT’S THE IKWUANO OF YOUR DREAM

Thank you.  Yes, Ikwuano of my dream is one that is all encompassing in at its ramifications. A Local Government which her people would be well off in terms of provision of essential amenities like good network of roads, ultra-modern markets, quality and quantitative education, acquisition centers for all who could benefit from formal education which would heavily be subsidized by government at the state and local government levels,  Where farm produce and farmers would act as one of the first priorities of government in a bid to resolve food crisis, round the clock power supply, portable drinking water, in short everything that nature demand for healthy living. These things are doable if right steps are geared towards such. According to him, the man power is there, those other things call for rule to measure kind of thinking, and execution.

The lawmaker revealed that as a first time legislature there are so many bottlenecks, but that is  not to say he has not lived up to expectations thus far as his presence is being and fully felt in all the villages which constituted the traditional four clans that made up Ikwuano Local Government Council.

He insisted that despite the obvious liquidity problem as a first time State legislature, he has not failed to meet his previous campaigns promises. He further assured that better days are coming as he would assume the status of a ranking lawmaker when elected come 2023 House of Assembly poll.

BY GOD’S MERCY YOU WILL BE GOING BACK FOR THE SECOND TERM NOW WHAT GIVES YOU THE COURAGE TO?

Great question, first and foremost I never realized until I was elected into the House, one term will never afford you the opportunity to express yourself enough on what you intend or want to execute for your people in the constituency mainly because of obvious growing limitations as a first timer in the legislature there are so many no go areas for you than your already ranking colleagues.

Hon. Nwabuisi further revealed that he has graduated into the mainstream of politics of Abia State cum Ikwuano  and haven used this first time to acquaint himself with learning the rope, he has become a strong voice either in presenting bills or supporting the ones that are people oriented, it has been a journey worthwhile.

What is needed presently is to ensure that Ikwuano would have a ranking member in the House in the next assembly not starting afresh as it has been some few years ago. He called on Ikwuano people to vote solid for him and PDP candidates as the election 2023 beacons. He insists that he is the one man who works the talk and therefore has been and would continue to have the well being of his people in Ikwuano at heart. In short, he added that his relationship with Ikwuano voters can easily be described as that of co-joined twins and so this coming election will not be an exemption.

ON HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH HIS CONSTITUENTS

Honourable Stanley Nwabuisi asserts that he is in the best deep and faithful relationship with his people.

He stressed that he has kept fate with them believing that the voters will return him to the House instead of starting anew with a new representative. Like the old age adage said, the old wine gets better each passing day. If elected he would become a ranking member of the House and he would also stand the opportunity to vie for a principal office in the House which would benefit his constituency at the end of the day.

Ikwuano voters he insists are so sensitive and so knew where to pull their pendulum to. One thing is so peculiar about Ikwuano voters. They knew what they want and with the state of things now such would repeat itself because being their representative in Abia State House, am truly with them in thick and thin.

Honourable Nwabuisi confessed that he is always an advocate of full observation of the golden rule which stipulates that you do or stay on the right part and truth at all times and it has worked well for him and his constituents thus far and they would continue to tell themselves the truth. It is mine vehement belief that as payback time beckons, the good and great people of Ikwuano will identify with him, Honourable Stanley Nwabuisi. “My people and I knew the gains which await us if I am given the mandate back to continue my legislative work in Umuahia”.

I am desirous of getting back to the House again so as to get the dues of Ikwuano.  I continue to say that once you are just a new member in the House there are so many obstacles ahead though not written but it has been there. For instance, as first timer, you are not to contest as a principal officer and sundry. As first timer, you are not supposed to be in a room where certain and vital decisions are taken and that has really affected Ikwuano and her people. It is why I am constantly saying never again for my people. I should be given a fresh mandate to navigate ship of Ikwuano in the incoming assembly to put Ikwuano name in the frontline this time around, he stated.

“It is unfortunate that our constituents now judge lawmakers on the basis of what is not part of our job specifications. As first timer, the quota given to you is that of a first legislature and your guess is as good as mine. Key members have more say, benefits and sundry which enables them to empower their constituents roundly. We are being judged now with parameters that are alien to legislatives rules i.e. the people want you to provide everything good under the sun for them, even out of your job specifications and to be honest with you I have kept faith with them since I was elected, despite the obvious meager financial resources or capacity. Your constituents are no longer interested on the core mandate with which you were elected now; they want you to provide all things including the ones in the list of State government.

ON LEGISLATIVE/EXCUTIVE RELATIONSHIP IN ABIA STATE

The vibrant legislature emphatically said that both partners have maintained sound relationship that has driven the State on smooth sail thus far. He confessed that the executive has promptly been on the same page with the lawmakers which is the act of delivering democratic dividends to the good and great people of Abia.

We are on course and with the coming of the new legislature and executive come 2023; the sky will become our beginning. For instance the party’s flag bearer Professor Uche Ikonne is a seasoned and goal driven administrator who knows where the bucket has been leaking and so would ensure that Abia State will be amongst the comity of agenda setting States in Nigeria. Professor Ikonne has capacity to govern a State like Abia. His turn around mechanism when he was the Vice Chancellor of Abia State University Uturu, that drastically repositioned the institution and placed it solidly on top as one of the leading State Universities in the country today.

Roundly, Professor Uche Ikonne will be like our present day Biblical Moses. He has nothing that would distract him as his present call for duty in the State would further cast his name on gold therefore the best option and way to go by Abians would be to return wholesale all the candidates of the PDP in the State and federal legislatures. Professor Ikonne is proven and tested administrator of the first order in public service. Therefore he won’t be learning the ropes like his counterparts jostling for Abia State Government House.

No doubt the stakes are high but PDP governorship aspirant is equal to the task as his past stewardship in public service speaks volumes for him. His tone setting devices in ABSU are solid enough to be building from by successive Vice Chancellors that and more he replicate on assumption of office as Abia State executive governor come May 29, 2023 by God’s mercy via voters’ mandate.

YOUR EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

“I did my secondary school education at Command Secondary school, Bauchi. I got admission into then Rivers State University of Science and Technology Port Harcourt where I gained Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology. After my National Youth Service, I again got admission to Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife for my Postgraduate studies in Management and after which I went for Masters In Business Administration (MBA) in the same University, OAU, Ile Ife and currently studying in Abia State University at Masters level too”.

It is instructive to note here that Honourable Stanley Nwabuisi was a Banker and had also cut his teeth as Senior Legislative Assistant to Honourable Samuel Onuigbo, a member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency in Abuja during his first term from where he was urged by Ikwuano people to vie for a seat in the State Assembly which he won in 2019.  His resolve to vie for second tenure is to enable him break the jinx of first timer problem, where he would have more opportunity to secure the needed dividends of democracy for his people.
