CAF Champions League: Arendse late goal condemns Enyimba to second defeat

Mamelodi Sundowns were hoping to record their maiden victory in the 2016 CAF Champions League Group B when they hosted Enyimba in Tshwane. And they did.

The first save of the game came in the 14th minute when Onuigbo forced Sundowns goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands into a good save.

Enyimba were applying some pressure on the hosts and in the 28th minute, Sandilands came off his line and make a great block.

But as the half-time break, Sundowns began to enjoy possession in the Enyimba half - looking to snatch the opening goal.

Leonardo Castro fired Sundowns into the lead three minutes before the break after the Enyimba defence had failed to clear Keagan Dolly's cross.

Following a quiet start to the second-half, the visitors were able to restore parity when they finally beat Sandilands in the 59th minute.

The former Bafana Bafana international punched a corner kick towards Ojo who hammered home on the volley to make it 1-1 on the night.

In the 68th minute, Castro nearly grabbed his scored goal, but Moses Ocheje produced a fantastic save to deny the Colombian striker.

Khama Billiat placed a shot just wide of the far post after good movement from the Brazilians with 15 minutes left on the clock.

However, Wayne Arendse did net Sundowns' winning goal in the 78th minute when he finished off a cross from the left.

Sundowns managed to contain Enyimba in the dying minutes of the Group B encounter and the home side won 2-1 on the night.
