Drogba: 2012 UCL Final Mikel’s Best

By Daily Sports Nigeria on September 30, 2022

African football legend and Chelsea great Didier Drogba, has showered praises on Mikel Obi describing his 2012 UEFA Champions League outing against Bayern Munich as the best he played in his hey days.

The erstwhile goal machine disclosed this via twitter handle while reacting to the retirement of the ex-Super Eagles captain.

Drogba, who was Mikel’s teammate at Chelsea, thanked the Jos-born star for some great memories. He however gave kudos to the former midfield maestro for showing class in the 2012 UEFA Champions League final which finished in favour of the Blues.

Though Drogba netted a last minutes equaliser and the penalty shoot-out decider which inspired Chelsea to the highest podium, the Ivory Coast highest goal scorer of all time described the duel as the best he watched Mikel played.

“We’ve created great memories playing together at @chelseafc and against with @ng_supereagles

“That Champions League final game in Munich for me was your best ever game!!!!

“All the very best with your family for your next chapters

@mikel_john_obi.”
