Ibrahimovic To Make Film Debut

By Daily Sports Nigeria on September 27, 2022

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will make his acting debut in ‘Asterix and Obelix: The Middle Kingdom’ next year.

The AC Milan striker posted the trailer to his Twitter page on Sunday afternoon and it has 75,000 likes at the time of writing.

Ibrahimovic will play Roman centurion Oneofus in the fifth instalment of the hit French franchise, which started back in 1999.

It looks like more than a cameo too. In the midst of a heated battle, Ibrahimovic rainbow flicks a helmet into his hands and wallops his enemies.

Another scene sees him addressing an army with a passionate speech before raising his arms and shouting. Whatever he says manages to leave titular characters Asterix and Obelix confused.

Ibrahimovic’s attire is red and black too, a nice homage to Milan.

The film is currently scheduled to release in February 2023 and will be in French, with English subtitles. English audiences will be able to watch it on Netflix.

Last season, Ibrahimovic helped Milan to Serie A glory before going under the knife for knee surgery.

The 40-year-old injured his ACL while playing for Manchester United in 2017 and underwent a procedure to fix issues with his left knee.

He detailed the pain he played through on Instagram and revealed he no longer has an ACL in his knee.

“For the past six months I played without an ACL in my left knee,” he posted to social media shortly after Milan’s title triumph.

“Swollen knee for six months. I was only able to train with the team 10 times in the last six months. Took more than 20 injections in six months.

“Emptied the knee once a week for six months. Painkillers every day for six months. Barely slept for six months because of the pain.

“I’ve never suffered so much on and off the pitch. I made something impossible to something possible. In my mind I had only one objective, to make my teammates and coach champions of Italy because I made them a promise.

Ibrahimovic signed a new contract with Milan however and he’ll return to action next year.
