NBBF To Name Committees For Leagues

By Daily Sports Nigeria on September 23, 2022

Barring any hitches, the Nigeria Basketball Federation, NBBF will in a matter of days make public the members of its various committees to oversee the leagues and other national activities.

This much was made known to Daily SunSports/SportingSun by the Vice President of the NBBF, Babatunde Ogunade following the release of the board’s programmes for the last quarter of the year.

“The board met and has taken far-reaching decisions to move forward after all the distractions of the election. Now, it’s time to move forward and give basketball the attention it deserves especially on the home front. Committees have been set up with a view of inclusiveness to enable the game to reclaim its rightful place in Nigeria sports.

Every league has a board that will drive it and that way, we have everyone involved in the development of the game. Everyone has got something to offer and working together will bring out the best in us. In a couple of days, the NBBF will make the membership of the committees public as we all have to be ready.”

On Wednesday, the NBBF through the Secretary-General, Peter Njoku released a timeline for the commencement of its various activities for 2022, including the national leagues.

In a 2-page letter which was addressed to all State Basketball Associations and clubs and signed by Njoku and made available to the media, it states; “As you all are aware, the 21st National Sports Festival (NSF), tagged ‘Delta 2022’, has been scheduled to hold in Asaba, Delta State from 2-16, November 2022.

“In view of the foregoing, all States Basketball Associations and clubs, are by this letter reminded to commence all necessary preparations for their effective participation at various basketball events and leagues already lined up for the last quarter of the year, October-December, 2022.

“They include as follows, NBBF Premier League, NBBF Zenith League, NBBF National Divisions 1&2 Leagues and the 21st National Sports Festival.”

“Consequently, all State Basketball Associations and Clubs currently playing or intending to play at the various national leagues are advised to contact the NBBF Secretary-General, to update their teams status and settle all affiliation requirements.”
