'More To Come From Haaland'

By Daily Sports Nigeria on September 19, 2022

Paul Dickov insists there is even more to come from Erling Haaland in the wake of the City centre forward’s latest standout goal during Saturday’s 3-0 Premier League win at Wolves.

The Norwegian international maintained his sensational start to his City career by notching up a 16th minute goal at Molineux to extend our lead after Jack Grealish’s early opener.

Picking up the ball midway in the hosts’ half, he ran at the Wolves defence before despatching a crisp right-foot shot inside the right hand post from 20 yards out.

It took his Premier League tally for the season to 11 – and made it 14 goals overall since his move to City from Borussia Dortmund in the summer.

Remarkably, it also racked up the 22-year-old’s 100th goal in 99 games since he left RB Salzburg for Dortmund in 2020.

With Phil Foden further extending our lead in the second half, the victory took us to the top of the table – for 24 hours at least ahead of Arsenal’s Sunday trip to Brentford.

And speaking on Saturday’s edition of Matchday Live, special guest Dickov said that Haaland’s latest effort was merely further demonstration of the desire and hunger that has become the hallmark of our centre forward.

“We’ve seen his full range and there is still more to come – he’s a born goal scorer and its instinctive,” declared the former City and Scotland striker.

“He has a desire to score all the time that I love about him.

“His goal was great. Some people say he’s just a tap-in merchant or that he’s a six-yard box player, but you see the goals throughout his career, left foot, right foot, inside the box, outside the box and again at Molineux.

“He always wants to score more but that is what makes him so good. It was a great goal that he scored.

“The Wolves defender thought he was doing the right thing by showing him onto his weaker foot.

“He is predominantly left footed, and I love the fact that when he picked the ball up 30 yards out the only thing in his head was to try a shot.

“It wasn’t to get the ball and pass out wide, he thought ‘I’m driving at the heart of the defence and I’m going to shoot, and it was a fantastic finish.

“And you could see the way he celebrated with his team-mates at the end that he’s not just a fantastic player but a great character as well and that’s what you want to see.”
