Neymar: Football Is Getting Boring

By Daily Sports Nigeria on September 18, 2022

Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar has claimed football is ‘getting boring’ in a brutal interview after beating Maccabi Haifa 3-1.

The 30-year-old Brazilian continued his sensational run of form during the Champions League group stage win on Wednesday. He scored the third and final goal after Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe put PSG in front on an otherwise difficult evening.

Neymar celebrated by sticking his tongue out in tribute to his son but was shown a yellow card by referee Daniel Siebert for unsportsmanlike behaviour. A furious Neymar then slammed the current state of football in his post-match interview, calling it ‘boring’.

He said: “I just met the referee and talked to him. He apologised. But now I already have the yellow card. This is a complete lack of respect for the players. The referees have to be there to protect us.

“What happened to me today is very sad. Football is getting boring and we can’t celebrate. This is a lack of respect not only for me, but for football.”

Neymar then posted a lengthy message to his Twitter, writing: “Total lack of respect for the athlete. This kind of thing can’t happen. I take the yellow for simply not having done anything and I continue to be harmed. And the judge? Not even to say he was wrong, he will! A lot of lack of respect.”
