Kane Tempted By Bayern Munich Switch

By Daily Sports Nigeria on September 14, 2022

Tottenham Hotspur striker, Harry Kane has supposedly not closed the door on a future move to Bundesliga champion, Bayern Munich.

The England captain tried and failed to force a move away from North London in 2021, with Daniel Levy refusing to relent on his £150m asking price.

Manchester City – who was thought to be leading the charge for Kane – has since signed Erling Braut Haaland, while Manchester United cannot offer Kane Champions League football.

Kane ultimately pledged his allegiance to Tottenham for the 2021-22 season and helped Antonio Conte’s side qualify for the Champions League after registering 17 goals and nine assists in 37 Premier League outings.

The impact of Conte on the Tottenham squad has led to renewed optimism that Kane will sign a new contract at Hotspur Way, as his current deal is due to expire in under two years’ time.

However, should Tottenham fails to end their 14-year trophy drought this season, Kane is set to turn 30 without having won a major honour at club level.

As a result, Bayern – who did not sign a direct replacement for Robert Lewandowski in the summer – are being tipped to swoop for the 29-year-old, although director Hasan Salihamidzic recently denied that contact was made in the summer.

Kane has opened the 2022-23 season in strong form for Tottenham with five goals to boast from seven appearances in all competitions, taking his total for the Lilywhites to 253 goals and 59 assists in 353 outings.

The striker has also become the Premier League’s third-highest goalscorer of all time with 188 strikes, only behind Wayne Rooney (208) and Alan Shearer (260).

Bayern chiefs, Oliver Kahn and Julian Nagelsmann have both talked up the prospect of Kane moving to Bavaria in recent months, but Tottenham boss Conte blasted the pair’s comments as “disrespectful” earlier this summer.

Since waving goodbye to Lewandowski, Bayern has seen ex-Liverpool attacker Mane score five goals in his first nine games for the club, while 17-year-old Mathys Tel has two goals from four appearances in all competitions.
