By By V. Enyinnaya, Lagos, O. Osagie, Benin City, A. Oluwaseyi, Ibadan, And A. Sheriff, Abuja on September 2, 2022

As the decision time for who will  lead the embattled Nigerian football come September 30, in Benin, Edo State where election into the office of President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and other executive committee members to re-engineer the game in the land draws near, frontline aspirant, Christian Emeruwa has been consulting key stakeholders and the media to sale his progress, depth life wire and global best practices the digital way of football administration which would reinvent the country’s football to higher heights so as to compete favourably against other football serious minded nations of the World.

An investigation that spanned over two weeks by Daily Sports Correspondents in major States revealed that the former management staff of the apex football governing body, Christian Emeruwa is leading others amongst the other aspirants as Nigerian fans, pundits and analysts said CAF employee is the most qualified for the top job. According to our man in Benin City, Edo State Ogie, Osagie, all football stakeholders believe that Emeruwa has seen it all and knows what it takes to administer profitable football federation.

The stakeholders he further reports thumbed him, adding that he would bring great goodwill to Nigerian football as his image would swell and spur the game in the country. He interacts with the movers and shakers of both African football and World therefore he remains a round peg in a round hole, his election into NFF as President would be the best that would ever happen to Nigerian football administratively of late, he chorused.

From Ibadan, Oyo State, Adeyinka Oluwaseyi reports that Christian Emeruwa’s candidacy would bring fresh air to the entire race as football analysts and fans are in the same camp insisting that he ought not to have any rival as he stood out as the most qualified to redirect the game in the country.

Oluwaseyi further reports that the feeling in the ancient city of Ibadan amongst these groups are that what should suit Nigerian football which is currently at the cross roads is to give the CAF man the nod then sound other minds in the race selected as executive committee members to steer the game which is almost sleeping into extinction in Nigeria.

“Emeruwa has what it takes to administer enduringly Nigerian football. He is compliant with the way and manner the game is being directed in the globe today and so Nigeria would not afford to miss this golden opportunity his presence has to offer rich football services to his fatherland beacons, they enthused.

Our man in Abuja, Abdul Sheriff sent in report that numerous football fans and analysts were in unionism on the candidature of Christian Emeruwa as not only tested and trusted but also one armed with the latest modern way to profitably administer the game to harness all the potentials that these so called pretenders that have held the game hostage in the country these years have neglected but rather sadly enriched their pockets instead.

Sheriff pointedly said football buff; Roland Ibegbu categorically said the federal government must do everything to ensure that Christian Emeruwa clinches the NFF President in the forthcoming election. According to him, anyhow the government could do to adopt this jewelry of inestimable value to call the shots in our apex football house in the country if truly we do not want this game that has held the country together dead.

In Enugu, Enugu State came report from our Senior Correspondent, John Ugwuanyi that a one time football administrator, Eric Chukwu who emphatically advised especially other younger aspirants and ex-internationals in the race to come into consensus within them and step down for Christian Emeruwa and then contest for executive committee membership position that will enable them join hands with him as an anchor person to step up or revive the fast dying Nigerian football.

He advised stakeholders who have voting status to take wiser decision for the best interest of Nigerian football rather than basing on tribe, monetary inducement or any vice which would take our football many steps backwards as the game in its present standing will not withstand anything order than a depth and knowledgeable man with vast experience, information, acumen and above all who is in full touch with continental and global leeway on football administration.

In Lagos, Owerri, Uyo, Kano, Makurdi etc the verdict is the same pointing at the direction of Christian Emeruwa to ascend the converted NFF Presidency because he will effectively bring value to the take which Nigerian football most needs presently. Pundits in these States confessed that the pedigree of the former NFF staff will bring in many goodies to the administration of football in the country.

They believe that with him on the saddle it will not be business as usual because with the kind of blue print he presented to the media in Lagos recently it is clearer that the turning point is he who comes to the equity must come with clean hands therefore all voters with the growth of Nigeria’s football at heart should against all odds cast such for Emeruwa for the good of the game in the country, they appealed.
