Real Madrid ended their campaign with their 14th Champions League trophy, showing that the Royal Whites were simply a cut above the competition in all of Europe last season. In the meantime, Eintracht Frankfurt defied the odds to win the Europa League championship.
However, the Eagles have not had a strong start to their new season. They were soundly defeated by Bayern Munich in their German top division season opening. As a matter of fact, they had conceded 6 goals against the club that had recently lost star scorer Robert Lewandowski.
Additionally, they had only managed to produce 10 victories overall throughout the entire previous season and had placed just 11th out of 18 teams in the German first division. Throughout this period, they have conceded a lot of goals and had a difficult time consistently scoring.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, just went ahead and significantly strengthened their midfield, which was already very strong after they won an incredible 14th European championship.
After watching the preparations made by their bitter rivals, Barcelona, they will be motivated to kick off their campaign strongly. The greatest way for them to begin this new season would be with a victory in the UEFA Super Cup.
It adds yet another significant trophy to their collection and increases the likelihood that Karim Benzema will win the Ballon d’Or in October.
This is the first time these two teams have faced off against one another, and The Royal Whites have only suffered defeats to Barcelona, Manchester City, Atletico Madrid, and Chelsea in the last five months. These four clubs are among the finest on the continent.
Also worth mentioning is their capacity to recover from seemingly hopeless situations, which they frequently displayed in the previous season.
Frankfurt, meanwhile, just has their victory in the Europa League to show for their previous year. They had a poor league season, and they even got off to a terrible start in their current campaign.
It goes without saying that they lack confidence and will be anxious about competing against the continent’s most successful squad.
