Nigeria Rowing team battles U.S., Ukraine, 65 others at ICF Caneo Sprint in Canada

A team of six athletes, two coaches and some officials of Nigeria Rowing arrived in Canada, Tuesday, to battle with rowers from 67 other countries in the 2022 ICF Caneo Sprint Championship.

The team includes four Para-Canoe athletes, Bosede Omoboni, Ayomide Ehinmore, Adeniji Olowoniyi and Temitope Olasupo. Two able athletes in the squad are Michael Moses and Goodness Foloki.

Coach Fortune Olayiwola is in-charge of the para-athletes, while coach Abel Omaga is handling the able athletes.

The 2022 ICF Caneo Sprint championship, which started in Canadian city of Halifax on August 3, will end on August 7.

Among the 68 countries participating in the championship include the United States of America, Great Britain, Hungary, Poland, Egypt, France
Ukraine, Senegal and Algeria.

The General Secretary of Nigeria Rowing Federation, Olubunmi Ola-Oluode, who is participating in the championship as an International Umpire, told The Guardian in a telephone chat shortly on arrival in Canada that all the athletes were in high spirit and ready to do Nigeria proud.

“The athletes are here to give a good account of themselves and also represent our great country, Nigeria in the best possible way,” Ola-Oluode stated.

The event is holding at the famous Lake Banook in Halifax.
