Simon Congratulates MOTM Winner Michael, Eaglets After 2023 U-17 AFCON Qualification

Super Eagles winger Moses Simon has congratulated Man of the Match winner Emmanuel Michael and his Golden Eaglets teammates after securing qualification to next year’s U-17 AFCON.

The Eaglets came from a goal down to beat Côte d’Ivoire 3-1 in the first semi-final of the WAFU B U-17 tournament on Tuesday.

Michael scored two goals from free-kicks in the first half to put the Nigerian team 2-1 ahead before Abdullahi Idris added the third in the second half.

After the match, Michael received his third consecutive Man of the Match award.

Reacting to Michael’s Man of the Match the left-back’s academy in Kaduna Simoiben Futball Club, owned by Eagles star Simon, wrote on Twitter:“Two goals and a third consecutive man of the match award for Emmanuel Michael.Congratulations to the team for qualifying for the final and also U17 AFCON🇳🇬.”

And reacting to Simoiben Futball Club, Simon wrote on his Twitter handle:“Congratulations boy, super proud of you and the team 🇳🇬🦅.”

The Eaglets will take on Burkina Faso in the final on Friday while Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire will tackle each other in the third-place match.

Both the Eaglets and Burkina Faso have qualified for the 2023 U-17 Cup of Nations in Algeria.
