CR7 Hints At Man Utd Stay

By Daily Sports Nigeria on May 15, 2022

Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted that he will stay at the club this summer, amid reports of a potential move away from Old Trafford.

Ronaldo and United have endured a frustrating 2021-22 campaign, despite the 37-year-old scoring 24 goals in 38 appearances across all competitions since returning to the club from Juventus in August.

As a result of a disappointing season for the Red Devils, the club has missed out on a trophy for a fifth successive campaign, whilst also missing out on qualification for the 2022-23 Champions League.

Such failure has led to reports that the Portuguese forward could look to leave the club in the summer, but following the confirmed appointment of Ajax boss Erik ten Hag on a three-year deal from next season, Ronaldo has hinted that he will be there to play under the 52-year-old.

Speaking to United’s media team about the appointment of the Dutchman, Ronaldo said: “I know that he has done a fantastic job at Ajax, and that he is an experienced coach. But we have to give him time.

“Things must change the way he wants. If he does well, all of Manchester United will be successful, so I wish him well. We are all happy and excited, not only as players, but as fans as well. We have to believe that next year we can win titles.”

Having re-joined United for around £13.5m on a two-year deal last summer, Ronaldo enters the final 12 months of his contract in June, although there remains an option for a further year to be triggered as well.
