Rivers United attacker, Rafiu Ishaq Kayode is on cloud nine following his invitation to the Super Eagles squad that will face Mexico and Ecuador in international friendly matches.
The first assistant coach of the Super Eagles, Salisu Yusuf invoted Ishaq and seven other home-based professionals in the list of players invited to prosecute both international friendly matches.
The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) players who have made the provisional list are the pair of goalkeepers, Adewale Adeyinka (Akwa United) and Ojo Olorunleke (Enyimba).
Others are the duo of defenders, Isa Ali (Remo Stars), Ibrahim Buhari (Plateau United) while midfielders are Chiamaka Madu (Rivers United) and Babatunde Afeez Nosiru (Kwara United).
The two home-based forwards against the ‘A’ Men National Teams of Mexico and Ecuador in the United States of America are Victor Mbaoma (Enyimba) and Ishaq Rafiu Kayode (Rivers United).
Rafiu Ishaq last weekend scored as Rivers United compounded the woes of bottom-placed MFM FC 5-0 while keeping their own NPFL title chase alive. He has 14 goals and three assists so far.
“Excited to be called up to the @NGSuperEagles squad for the friendly games versus Mexico and Ecuador. For me, this is a dream come true and a rare opportunity to wear the colour as well.
“Grateful to @RiversUnitedFC management/technical crew and my teammates,”
Ishaq who has had numerous transfer offers from foreign clubs wrote on Twitter.
