Oreva Jaden Atebe and Chinyere Chukwueke are among the kids that will feature in the tournament part of the Leadway Assurance Ikoyi Club 1938 Tennis Clinic, which ends tomorrow.
The tournament is organised to give kids the opportunity to win laurels and prizes in four different categories.
The week-long programme with about 100 kids participating has today as the last day for training/clinic, while the event will be rounded off with the tournament tomorrow.
The 10-year-old Atebe is among the participants delighted to have improved on his serves, as well as forehand and backhand hits.
“My love for tennis has grown further after learning new things in the clinic,” he said.
Chukwueke, 11, said her movement, among others, has been enhanced after being put through the happy feet exercise.
“I have learnt a lot in this programme, especially my movement, which is now better. With this clinic, I can now play better,” she said.
A parent, Mrs. Tope Arogundade, noted that the programme would help build the kids’ fitness and health, just as the tournament aspect would build their confidence.
Ikoyi Club 1938 Tennis Section Captain, Ekene Nwaokolo, described the clinic as hugely successful, adding that the club is committed to the development of Nigerian tennis through its grassroots programmes.
