Fans Slam NFF On The Appointment Of Yusuf Salisu As CHAN, U-23 Eagles Coach

By By Victor Enyinnaya, Lagos and Ogie Osagie, Benin City on April 13, 2022

Football fans across the country have vehemently condemned the decision of the Amaju Pinnick led executive committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on the reappointment of Yusuf Salisu as coach of CHAN and U-23 Eagles team despite being relieved of his position along side the former Austin Eguaveon led technical crew and other baggages associated with the coach.

According to them the former Kano Pillars and Enyimba FC coach ought not to have any business with the reconstituted coaches of various national teams if it is other civilized and integrity sensitive countries.

The fans across major football playing States returned such damming verdict of no confidence on him even haven been indicted of taking bribe from players of the Super Eagles though the unsuspecting  public was told he was not found guilty.

For Abduallahi Rimi from Kano State, the coach has paid his dues on job by Nigerian standard the fact remains that haven stood trial on complexity of bribery is enough to ban him from coaching but since it is now the other way round, the abysmal performance of the Super Eagles in AFCON and Qatar 2022 World Cup play-off, he would have been left in the cooler.

Rimi insisted, in Nigeria what is scandal is celebrated unabated. He will continue his alleged corrupt practices where he stopped, he observes.

Adeboye Olaifa from Oyo State said this NFF has proved to be partners in crime. How on earth will a football governing body encourage illegality? Haven cleared him which we all knew was sort of soft landing for him the way forward would have been never to look towards side hence Nigerians were told by this lying lips NFF  that new technical crew would be appointed to various national teams.

Olaifa pointed out that what Nigerians have seen so far are recycling of either coach (s) with no  capacity or questionable character/bringing back dead wood who has lost touch with realities of modern day techniques in football coaching which has gone digital. For instance, how would a proactive football administrator in this century bring back Ladan Bosso to handle a national team, the second most important national side in ranking? It is a pity that is where Nigeria is.

Thompson Ibegbu from Enugu State simply slammed the leadership of the NFF on their yet again short sightedness questioning why Ladan Bosso and Yusuf Salisu must found their way back to the national teams.

What example is this NFF of many colours leaving behind? Bosso he said has lost the tune of reality in modern day football techniques yet he is to handle the Flying Eagles what a shame and low esteemed thinking. As if that was not enough, Yusuf Salisu was appointed to oversee the CHAN and U-23 Eagles teams. Yusuf Salisu of all coaches. Nigeria sef,

From Benin City Edo State comes report, where Osas Eboigbe condemned in unmistakable terms the appointment of Yusuf Salisu and Ladan Bosso adding that to complete the circle would be the reappointment of lame duck Paul Aigbogun who is in the same category of coaches that ought not to have any business in the national teams in whatever capacity whatsoever.

When the former Austin Eguaveon led technical crew was swept away I said that was the best way this NFF wants use to divert attention in order to cool the fray nerves of angry Nigerians and as cat with nine lives it will play the fast one on Nigerians later. The body has true to type returned around to do same. Only someone they believe is not in their good books would miss the train, Eboigbe said.

The way out of these many steps backwards system in our football and other sports would be to sweep away these corrupt ridden individuals that have looted so much and now have no clue what next to do.

I read recently that Shehu Dikko Seyi Akinwunmi etc are eyeing NFF top job. How on earth would such happen if Nigeria still has her correct senses, Eboigbe queried.
