Tottenham’s Harry Kane has been compared to one of the all-time greats after his display on Sunday.
The Lilywhites would face off with Newcastle in the day’s late kick-off. The Magpies have become a very solid defensive unit over the last few months, but Spurs were somehow able to put a staggering five goals past Martin Dubravka.
And whilst Kane did not score and only got one assist on the day, his build-up play was superb and key to so many of Tottenham’s attacks.
Now, when speaking after the game, David Ginola suggested that Kane is like Argentina and Napoli legend, Diego Maradona.
“It [the win over Newcastle] was very impressive,” Ginola said. “Spurs looked so strong, especially in the second half. They looked confident, they are playing their game. “They rely on their best assets in the middle of the park, their passing is brilliant and their finishing is amazing. “The new playmaker at Spurs is Harry Kane. He’s like Maradona now, playing in the middle of the park, long balls, short balls, scoring, assisting – wow. [It’s] the new Harry Kane.”
Ginola’s comments on Kane come during something of a revival period for the Englishman.
Kane had a simply woeful start to the 2021/22 campaign, which seemed to be due to his summer move to Manchester City not transpiring and also poor management on the part of Nuno Espirito Santo.
Since Antonio Conte has taken charge, however, both Kane and Heung-min Son have looked as sharp as ever.
In his last eight league games for Spurs, Kane has scored seven and provided four assists.
