NLO 1 Week 2: Exciting Rolly FC Beat Hensard In Benin City

By Nelson Dafe on March 24, 2022

Benin City powerhouse Rolly FC got off to a flying home start in the Nationwide League One as they saw off visiting Hensard FC Of Bayelsa 2-0 at the Western Boys High School pitch.

Rolly started the match like hungry lions, not having played in week 1, with the non-appearance of supposed host team Isoko United in Oleh . They pressed Hensard early and almost scored in the early minutes as left back Friday Asata saw his shot miss by whiskers.

Minutes later however, Hensard went on the counter and missed a glorious tap-in goal themselves. But Rolly were generally in control of the first half proceedings and got a deserved lead when galloping right back Trust Oyiboke’s brilliant strike from the edge of the box sailed into the net.

Hensard upped their tempo in the second half but found Rolly’s defense marshaled by the assured Chinedu a hard knock to crack. Substitute Pascole provided a moment of inspiration with a mazy run from the right and squared for the excellent Ernest Ohelum to score from six yards out to give Rolly a second and deserved win.

Head coach of Rolly Ndubuisi Okosieme said it was a win that lifted some pressure off his team. “This is our first game. Hensard have already picked up a win at home last week. The Pressure was much. All we needed was to get the 3 points and that’s very important,” Okosieme said.

A disappointed coach Tony Jibunoh of Hensard regretted that his players didn’t stick to his tactical plans before the game. “I think the boys played out of our strategy, but I think in all the games you make mistakes and work on them,” Jibunoh said.

Rolly next go away to play against Koluma FC of Bayelsa in the NLO week 3.
