The Ajax shot-stopper was involved in a serious car collision while travelling to meet up with his Cameroon teammates before their crucial World Cup qualifier against Algeria
The incident is unlikely to rule Onana out of Cameroon's upcoming World Cup play-off qualifying clash against Algeria. The Indomitable Lions arguably underwhelmed at the recent Africa Cup of Nations. Onana was between the sticks as they reached the final four, but were beaten by Egypt on penalties at the semi-final stage.
They did have something to shout about in the end as Cameroon toppled Burkina Faso in the tournament's third-place play off, again via a penalty shootout. At club level, Onana's future remains up in the air given he confirmed he would not be penning an extension with Dutch giants Ajax.
He first joined the club in 2016 and has won two Eredivisie titles alongside two Dutch FA Cups and was one game away from winning the 2017 Europa League but Ajax were toppled by Manchester United in the final. Onana's current deal expires at the end of the season.
