President of Super Eagles Supporters Club (SESC), Prince Vincent Okumagba has called on all stakeholders, coaches and players to close ranks as the country prepares for the World Cup 2022 playoff against arch rivals Ghana’s Black Stars first in Cape Town and the return leg in Abuja.
In an exclusive telephone conversation with Daily Sports he insists that the only way to go would be for everyone directly involved in this national assignment to remain focused to ensure that the Super Eagles will achieve a great in Cape Town game and return to Abuja to complete the game and pick the ticket for the football summit in November in Qatar.
According to him, the country will benefit immensely on togetherness chasing common enemy than where there suddenly becomes a disagreement amongst the key players of this looming titanic football battle between Nigeria and Ghana.
“I’m optimistic that with zeal and focus the team will decisively confront her Ghanaian counterpart headlong. No doubt, it will be a very difficult game where only the fittest and the brave would survive the frills, drills and the thrills. Nothing stops Nigeria from doing well on this note if the NFF Sports Minister, coaching crew and the players are on the same page,” he appeals.
Okumagba noted the fantastic leadership roles being mounted by Sports Minister and the NFF thus far and appeals that that should not be jettisoned because of rumors and counter rumors that enemies of the game are paddling. Whatever issue (s) that is arising from the invitation of Onazi must not be allowed to divide the existing spirit towards achieving set goal in the Ghana/Nigeria football war.
He recall the confidence and impetus the initial roles by Sports Minister and NFF President injected into the players and the provisional team list already in public domain is encouraging too and if it is well harnessed it will be suicidal for Ghana’s Black Stars as it face the Super Eagles in Cape Town come March 25, first leg.
“My take still remain that our eyes should continue to be on the ball. Let preparation be in top gear because Ghana is not leaving anything for chance in their spirited bid to ouster Nigeria right from the first leg in their home ground and in front of their partisan fans. Eguaveon and his assistants must brace up and do the depth on the players for the tedious task ahead,” he submitted.
